Creamy Chicken and Bacon Tortellini
Updated: Sep 30
If you’re looking for an easy camping dinner that is creamy, cheesy, and made entirely on the griddle, this Creamy Chicken and Bacon Tortellini is definitely one to add to your list.
Cheese tortellini gets cooked right on the Blackstone, then tossed with Alfredo sauce, mozzarella cheese, bacon, seasoned chicken, and green onions.
It’s filling, doesn’t require a bunch of ingredients, and best of all, you don’t have to boil a pot of water just to cook the pasta.

Why This Recipe Works for Camping
I love meals that can be made completely on the Blackstone when we’re camping, especially when they don’t require a ton of prep or dishes.
Instead of boiling the tortellini separately, I steam it right on the griddle with a little water and a cover. Once it’s tender, everything else gets mixed right in.
Chicken, bacon, cheese, Alfredo sauce. It all comes together for an easy, creamy dinner that is perfect for the campground.
It’s also easy to adjust depending on how many people you’re feeding, which is always helpful when you’re camping with a group.
Ingredients
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, about 1½ to 2 pounds total
Chicken Dust seasoning, enough to generously season both sides of the chicken
1 tablespoon oil, for cooking the chicken
1 large package refrigerated cheese tortellini, about 20 ounces
1 jar Alfredo sauce, about 15 ounces
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup cooked bacon, roughly chopped
3 green onions, sliced, divided
About ½ cup water, plus more as needed for steaming the tortellini
How to Make Creamy Chicken and Bacon Tortellini on the Blackstone
1. Cook the Chicken
Preheat your Blackstone griddle and add a small amount of oil.
Season the chicken breasts with Chicken Dust and place them on the griddle.
Cook the chicken until browned and cooked through. Toward the end of cooking, add some sliced green onions to the chicken.
Chop the chicken into bite-sized pieces right on the griddle, then remove it and set it aside.
2. Steam the Tortellini
Add the cheese tortellini directly to the griddle along with a little water.
Cover the tortellini with a melting dome and let it steam, checking and stirring occasionally.
Add a little more water as needed and continue steaming until the tortellini is as soft as you like it.
3. Make It Creamy
Once the tortellini is cooked, add the Alfredo sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.
Stir everything together on the griddle until the cheese is melted and the tortellini is completely coated in the creamy Alfredo sauce.
4. Add the Chicken and Bacon
Add the chopped bacon and cooked chicken back to the griddle.
Mix everything together and let it cook for another couple of minutes so the chicken heats back through and all of the flavors come together.
5. Finish with Green Onions
Remove the Creamy Chicken and Bacon Tortellini from the griddle and transfer it to a serving bowl.
Top with sliced green onions and serve while it’s hot and creamy.
Tips for Making Tortellini on the Blackstone
Don’t add too much water at once. You only need enough to create steam underneath the melting dome. You can always add a little more if the tortellini needs additional time to cook.
Keep an eye on the tortellini. It cooks pretty quickly, so check it as it steams until it reaches the texture you like.
Have everything ready to go. Once the tortellini is cooked, the rest of the recipe comes together pretty quickly.
Cook the chicken first. Removing the chicken while you cook the tortellini keeps it from overcooking. Just add it back at the end to heat everything together.
Why I Love This Camping Meal
This is exactly the kind of dinner I like making at the campground. It’s easy, it’s filling, and everything gets cooked right outside on the griddle.
I also love figuring out ways to cook foods on the Blackstone that you wouldn’t necessarily think of as griddle food.
Tortellini would normally mean getting out a pot and boiling water, but steaming it right on the griddle makes the whole meal so much easier.
Plus, chicken, bacon, Alfredo, cheese, and pasta is a combination that’s pretty hard to go wrong with.
